The SS Islander was a sidewheel paddle steamer built in 19-century Rochester, NY. She began service as a mail carrier and eventually became one of the first tour boats of the 1000 Islands region. On the evening of September 16, 1909 she caught fire while moored at the Cornwall Brothers Docks in Alexandria Bay, burned to the waterline and sunk in 50 feet of water.
